Intraoral scanning is a procedure which allows to obtain, through a special camera (the "scanner"), extremely precise three-dimensional images of the dental arches. These images are used instead of traditional dental impressions made by plastic materials.
The images obtained are digital files that can be immediately sent to dental laboratories and external companies by email for the manufacture of orthodontic appliances and prosthetic products with digital technologies (cad-cam, 3d printers).
The technology offers undoubted advantages during the image acquisition phase:
